Accident Recovery

Accident recovery. Winch-outs. Scenes handled right.

After a collision, rollover, or slide into a roadside ditch, there is a right way and a wrong way to get the vehicle out. Wrong hooks can crack frames, damage airbags that did not deploy, or make the insurance claim worse. Our drivers are trained for response at the I-44/Route 13 diverging diamond and the US-65/I-44 flyover, two interchanges built for volume, not familiarity, and for winch-out recovery from ditches, gravel-road shoulders, and low-water crossings after an Ozarks flash flood.

What do homeowners ask about Accident Recovery?

Will my insurance cover this?

Most comprehensive and collision policies cover post-accident towing as part of the claim. Call your insurer right after the tow; they will reimburse or pay direct. We give you a detailed invoice with the scene location, reason for the tow, and destination, exactly what adjusters need.

How do winch-outs work?

When a vehicle slides off the road, we use the wrecker's integrated winch to pull it back onto the pavement. On a soft shoulder that takes 15-30 minutes. A vehicle deep in a low-water crossing or hung up on a steep gravel-road embankment takes careful anchor work and rigging, sometimes 1-2 hours. We explain what we see and what we are going to do before starting.

What happens if I break down at the diverging diamond or another confusing interchange?

The I-44/Route 13 interchange is North America's first diverging diamond, opened in 2009, and the flyover ramp where I-44 meets US-65 catches drivers off guard the same way. Neither has a wide shoulder to work from safely. MoDOT's Motorist Assist / Emergency Response patrol covers area freeways for hazard clearing and a push to safety, not a tow. Stay belted, hazards on, and call us.

Do you coordinate with MoDOT and local police?

Yes. We respond alongside Springfield Police and MoDOT for freeway scene work across the metro, including the I-44 diverging diamond and the US-65 corridor into the Ozarks. For local police scenes, we coordinate the removal, the paperwork, and the transport destination chosen by the vehicle owner or officer.

What do I need to do at the scene?

If everyone is safe, step off the road, call 911 if it is a collision, and then call us. Do not try to move the vehicle yourself. Do not stand in traffic to take photos. We will arrive, stage the vehicle safely, and help you coordinate with law enforcement, the insurance company, and the body shop.
